Annual European SMP/SME Congress

 

The European Federation of Accountants (FEE) held its third FEE Annual European SMP/SME Congress:

New Opportunities for SMPs and SMEs:
Transparency, Finance and Simplification in a European Context

The Congress was held at the Steigenberger Kurhaus Hotel, Scheveningen, The Hague, the Netherlands on 6 and 7 September 2007 and was attended by more than 300 delegates.

Two days of discussion and debate confirmed that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the European economy and an invaluable source of jobs and growth. A host of eminent speakers were strong in their support of initiatives by the profession to do all that it can to enable SMEs to continue to develop. They openly encouraged the profession to assist where possible to open opportunities so that SMEs may operate efficiently and effectively.

The Congress addressed a wide spectrum of subjects in both the accounting and auditing professions of interest to small and medium sized entities.

Eminent speakers included:

John Kellas, Chairman of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB),
Philippe Danjou, Board Member of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB),
Jürgen Tiedje, Head of Auditing Unit, DG Internal Market and Services of the European Commission.
