EC’s consultation: the reform of VAT rates

Accountancy Europe responded to the European Commission’s the reform of the Common system of value added tax as regards the rules governing the application of VAT rates

Full liberalisation of rates could introduce significant burdens for businesses already having to comply with more than 80 rates across the EU. Increased liberalisation of rates should be accompanied by harmonised rules of product categories, better information on national websites and, preferably, a universally accessible European database.
